Different from many other touring teams, our coach has walked the path that many young athletes aspire to do. Jonathon Mines has gone through the Australian club and Representative programs before heading off to the U.S, earning a full scholarship to study and play basketball at both the National Junior Collegiate Athletic Association (NJCAA) and National College Athletic Association (NCAA) level. After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree, he continued to pursue playing professionally all over Europe as well as in Australia. This point of difference and self-made process has given him the clear understanding of what it takes for young Australian athletes looking to become successful in this sport and the value that comes with it. In addition to being an athlete, Jonathon comes from a basketball coaching upbringing. His father Sidney Mines, a well-known name within the Australian junior coaching community, has helped guide Jonathon’s passion on giving back to the younger generation and walking the journey with them. Today, Jonathon’s biggest passion is being heavily involved in the player development of young and professional basketball athletes. His ability to identify and scout young prodigies across the country is one of his strongest assets, whilst using his years of international experience to seek the best available opportunity by making sure they are in a situation to STRIVE towards their goals.
